And Then We Were Four

The first night I came home from the hospital with Benson I found myself lying on the couch, Benson in my arms, Josiah sitting on the floor in Benson's car seat sucking his thumb and Joey lying on another couch. We were watching football (soccer) and resting after all the events of the week. It hit me like a ton of bricks. We were a family, having our first family moment! Not that we wern't a family before, but somehow having two kids feels different than just having one. It honestly seems more real somehow.

So far being a family of four has been full of joy. There are all the things to get use to with a new baby and all the fun things happening with our growing boy. I love watching Josiah interact with Benson, he doesn't really know who Benson is yet, but he is always so happy to see him. He also seems to know ways to help when things arn't going so good.

For example Josiah sleeps outside our room in a small hallway next to our closets when we are in the city. It works out great, we get our own room, and Josiah is still close enough I can hear him if he gets sick or something crazy like that. Well from that little hallway Josiah could hear Benson when he woke up in the middle of the night. It was so funny the first night I was home because around 4am when I was feeding Benson I hear this small little voice singing from outside our bedroom. Josiah had heard Benson crying and was singing to him to help him be quiet and relax. It happened every night after that and sometimes during the day too. It is TOO cute!

I know that challenges and struggles are going to come our way, but I can hardly wait for what tomorrow will bring. The joys of being a family of four outweigh any struggles that may come. (hearing your son sing in the middle of the night, does it get any better?!) This adventure is just way too much fun! Thank you Lord for the joys, struggles and challenges that come with family, and thank you for my boys!!!
